April 2015 marked my 1-year anniversary as a blogger (wow time flies.) With this milestone, I decided to take the time to review the year and the purpose of Let’s Go Dog.
It was while pondering why the heck I continue to blog, sitting under patio cover on a rainy day with stinky dogs at my feet, when … BAM! … the clouds parted and I made a big decision. And I’m excited to tell you about it!
But first …
A Short Review
I started blogging to push myself to get out into the world with my dogs so I had something to write about. I wanted to quit worrying about what might happen and expecting myself to be prepared for every possibility. And when I was having a hard time getting past a certain worry, I used the Worst Case Scenario Methodology my mom taught me.
Much to my surprise, it all worked! The blogging, the getting out there, and the Worst Case Scenario Methodology.
The more exposure we (aka the dogs and I) got during trail hikes, road trips, loose dog encounters, bicycles and hat-wearing-bearded-men-with-sticks, the more confident we became. From other (fabulous!) dog bloggers, I learned to build a stronger, more relaxed bond with Zack & Zoe. And I gained faith. Zack is now less apt to consider every strange dog within 50 feet a threat. Zoe ceases to want to bring down every cyclist in the vicinity. And I am having a lot of fun on our little excursions together.
We even took a NW Coastal Dog Road Trip and lived to tell about it (actually, it was a lot of fun.)
So, What’s the Big Decision?
It’s time to take it up a notch. It’s time to go on that trip I’ve been dreaming of for almost 15 years …
HA! There. I said it out loud! By declaring my “perimeter” trip here on my blog I feel strangely accountable for making it happen.
That’s what’s next for Let’s Go Dog.
When is the trip? How long will it take, how will we travel, what will we do along the way? Will we really make it all the way around the lower 48 with our bodies and sanity intact?
I really don’t know.
But the story’s going to unfold, starting now. And I’m pretty excited!
