A -New- Grey Whisker On an Old Dog
How do I know which Grey Whisker is New? I’ve been gazing lovingly at this dog’s face nearly every day of his life. Every whisker and hair swirl is familiar. When a new grey sprouts on his snout, I notice.
Week One’s Theme is ‘New’
This picture is the first weekly installment in a year-long photo challenge. The challenge is called 52 Snapshots of Life and is hosted by Christina at The Lazy Pitbull.
I am eager to use this challenge to inspire my photography beyond pressing a camera’s button to snap a shot.
Week One’s theme is ‘New’. Hence the title “A -New- Grey Whisker on an Old Dog”.
A Lesson in Composition
I love this (my) dog and I love his face. But the photo’s composition is not great. The background is a bit distracting. If the background was of all one color and lacked texture and geometric shape, I believe the subject (dog face) would have more impact.
I hope to improve my composition skills in this 52-week challenge. I have 51 more chances to prove myself :-> Helpful hints are welcome!

Happy New Year, Everyone!
By the way, you know what else is new (at least to me)? Kelley’s Dog Blog! I wrote about my ‘discovery’ last week (if you missed it, read on.) This week Kelley talks about a letter of gratitude she received as an Animal Control Officer. Her story motivates me to show more gratitude to people. I mean, actually out loud to the gratitude-ee, not just by recognizing it in my own little universe. Thank you, Kelley :->
